We’re Going to Miss the “Ted Lasso” Show – It’s Like Parting Ways with Old Friends

There’s something magical about finding a show you truly connect with – a series that pulls you in, episode after episode, until its characters feel like friends. You laugh with them, cry with them, and cheer with them. And then, just like that, the journey ends.

My husband and I have been binge-watching the show “Ted Lasso” on Apple TV+ over the holidays. I know we are very late to this series – it first aired in 2020. We had no idea what the show was about when we decided to watch it. Now after watching this show, it has exceeded our expectations – and we’re really going to miss it!

We plan on watching the final episode tonight. It’s hard not to feel a pang of sadness. This charming, heartfelt show has done more than entertain us—it’s made us feel like a part of a quirky, loveable family. Saying goodbye to Ted Lasso is like waving farewell to old friends after a long, unforgettable visit.

From the first moment Ted (played by Jason Sudeikis) stepped onto the field with his boundless optimism and seemingly misplaced confidence, we were hooked. He wasn’t just a character; he was a reminder to embrace kindness, resilience, and humor, even when the odds are stacked against us.

And then there are the others—Roy Kent, with his gruff demeanor and surprising tenderness; Keeley, the unapologetically fabulous and fiercely independent PR genius; Rebecca, the boss who grew from vengeful to vulnerable to empowered; and of course, Nate, whose transformation left us cheering and crying in equal measure. Each of them brought something unique to the table, making Richmond AFC feel like more than a fictional football team—it felt like a family.

What made Ted Lasso special was its ability to make us laugh one moment and tear up the next. The show reminded us of the importance of human connection, personal growth, and forgiveness. It wasn’t just about soccer; it was about the game of life.

Now, as we prepare to say goodbye, it feels like we’re packing up after a great trip—grateful for the memories but wistful that it’s over. These characters have taught us lessons, made us smile, and helped us see the best in people.

Although Ted Lasso is ending, its messages of hope, empathy, and “believing” will stay with us. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll feel like we’re still part of the team every time we carry a little bit of Ted’s optimism or Rebecca’s strength into our own lives.

Cheers to Ted Lasso and the friends it gave us—we’ll miss you all!
