Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found.
Here are three random things (in no particular order) that I am really loving this week. Maybe you’ll find them interesting, too!
#1 – Living Stones
Have you ever seen the plant Lithops? They look like living stones!
Years ago when we first moved into our house, I had a bowl of Lithops and absolutely loved them. They fit perfectly with our home, since our entire family loves collecting rocks – and the plants look like rocks. Unfortunately, my kids were younger and the Lithops ended up getting overwatered by kids who enjoyed watering plants.
This past week, I spotted this bowl of Lithops. They are a little more colorful than the Lithops I had previously, but I think it’s time to try this plant again. What do you think of this plant?
#2 – Upside Down Planters
How fun is this?!?! A unique upside down planter! I love these.
I can just picture three or more of these planters hanging in a kitchen window, holding fresh herbs.
I think the planters would also be awesome hanging from a deck or patio overhang – quite a conversation piece.
You could even use these planters on your front porch or steps, filled with your favorite annuals. A perfect way to greet visitors.
#3 – Stone Filled Gabion’s
My family and I really enjoy stones and rocks. We have a lot of rocks in our landscaping – everything from river rock to large boulders. We also have a lot of rocks incorporated into our home decor. I love the natural look of the stone and it’s fun to imagine where the stones originated from.
This past week I spotted a stone filled gabion in a sphere. I’ve seen rocks and stones in metal cages before, but it was the sphere that caught my eye.
While I’m not sure where you could purchase a metal wire sphere like this, you could use two wire hanging baskets tied together to form a sphere. This is a project I plan on doing this Spring and can’t wait to get started! I’m planning on creating three of these spheres to place in our Three T’s Garden. I’ll use a variety of different stone sizes and maybe even layer them so there is a layer of 2″ rocks, then a layer of 4″ rocks, another 2″ rock layer, etc. If you wanted to do this project, but don’t have a lot of stones, you could place stones in one half then add an old bowling ball to the center. You wouldn’t see the bowling ball – the rocks and stones would be around it and up against the wire. The bowling ball would just act as extra “filler”.
