Since my job is an online store and mentoring ecommerce business owners, I spend a LOT of time online each day. While most of that time is spent working, I do occasionally stumble across websites, articles, and cool things that I really like. I save these things to a Pinterest board, so someday when I have some free time, I can go back to that board and enjoy the things I found.
Here are three random things (in no particular order) that I am really loving this week. Maybe you’ll find them interesting, too!
#1 – Black Plant
I absolutely love discovering unusual plants – both indoor and outdoor plants. This week, I spotted the Sinocrassula ‘Yunnanensis’ – a black succulent – and I am in love!
We’ve been giving our Music Room a make-over the past couple of weeks. The room is decorated in black and white and I’ve added a lot of interesting (green) plants to the room. I needed something to offset the green and add texture and contrast – this plant is perfect.
I think I need to get several more of these plants for our front patio this Spring so I can enjoy them outside, as well. What do you think of these plants?
#2 – Pouf
I have been looking for a colorful pouf for a long time. While our home decor is mostly black and white, I like to add interesting pops of color here and there. This poof ottoman is going to be the perfect piece!
The pouf is made of scraps from saris, lehngas, and wedding dresses and was made in India. I’m going to fill the pouf with old clothes that our boys no longer wear to make it a heavy and firm ottoman. I can’t wait to add this to our Music Room!
#3 – Spot Light
When we built our house, we added a unique spot light to the ceiling in the Music Room. The light has interchangeable colored discs, as well as discs with different patterns on them. We’ve only used the clear lens, but when using a pattern disc, the projector displays a fun pattern on the wall when the light is on. We added this light as an accent light versus a regular ceiling light to light up the room, and have gotten lots of compliments on the light over the years.
While this light isn’t something I just spotted this past week, I did have the idea this week of creating a new pattern disc for the light – music notes! I think it will be cool to see music notes lighting up the wall! Right now, the disc we’re using projects circles into a corner of the room (photo taken in bright sunshine, so not as dramatic as the spots look at night).
