Because of the nature of my job, I spend a lot of time online. As a result, I come across some pretty cool websites, and I’d like to share these treasured finds with you.
In this new blog series, Favorite Websites, I’ll post my favorite sites with you, and will give you tips on how you can use these websites. I hope you enjoy!
Favorite Website: IMDb
The IMBd website is an awesome resource for information related to movies, television programs, video games and more. The website includes information about the show storyline, as well as information about cast and crew. You’ll also find photos and videos from the show, along with details about the show production, reviews, trivia, goofs, quotes from the show, and parental guidance. This is a must-see website when you’re looking for more information about a show.

I’ve been using the IMDb website for many years. My husband and I especially liked using the website when our kids where younger so we could check out the Parental Guidance comments for potential movies we wanted to watch with our boys.
I love how you can click on an actors name and then see all the shows that actor has been in. It’s a great way to find unknown programs featuring your favorite actors!
In addition to all the program information on this website, you can also watch trailers and full videos for free, find local movies and showtimes, read news about celebrities and events, create watchlists, and much much more.
Use This Website:
To use this website, search for the movie or show you are interested in reading more about, then explore all the information for that program.
- Go to https://www.imdb.com/
The website will look similar to the image below.
- Click in the Search text box at the top of the screen, type the program or celebrity you’re interested in, and press [ENTER]
A window similar to the one below will appear, showing the data for the program.
- Scroll down to see all the data about that particular program or celebrity – for example, the Synopsis, Videos, Photos, More Like This, Cast, Storyline, Details, Trivia, Goofs, Quotes, Crazy Credits, Connections, Sountracks, Frequently Asked Questions, User Reviews, and more – there is a LOT of great information on this page!
Make sure to click on the blue hyperlinks found throughout the search results page – for example, click on the actor’s and actress’s names for more films they appear in.
Additional Tips and Notes:
- If you’d like, you can create a free IMDb account. This allows you to watch full-length movies, shows and more (for free), as well as receive personalized recommendations for new shows. You can keep a Watchlist of everything you want to watch and even receive email when movies open in theaters. By having an account, you can rate and review everything you’ve seen and contribute to the IMDb database. It’s worth checking out!
- IMDb also has an app for your iPhone or Android – called IMDb Everywhere. You can download the app through the links at the very bottom of the IMDb website. The app allows you to find showtimes, watch trailers, browse photos, track your Watchlist, and rate your favorite movies and TV shows right on your phone.
