What You Will Need:
- 10 Large Lemons
- 2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 1-quart Glass Mason Jar with Lid
- Citrus Juicer (I LOVE this one – Lemon Juicer)
- Small Knife
- Sliced Lemon for Garnish
- Ice Cubes (we like to use this Large Ball Ice Tray)
- Glass Bottle with Flip-top Seal (optional)
What You Do:
- Gather all your supplies, then slice lemons in half, around the middle of the lemon.
- Place half a lemon – sliced end down – into a citrus juicer and squeeze over your mason jar.
TIP: It’s important to place the sliced end down to get the most juice.
- Continue juicing all cut lemons into the mason jar – you should end up with around 2-1/2 cups of lemon juice.
- Add 2 cups granulated sugar to the mason jar.
- Seal the jar, then shake until the sugar is completely dissolved (about 2 minutes).
That’s it! Your lemonade concentrate is done and ready to be used!
- To serve, add 3-ounces of lemonade concentrate to a beverage glass, then add 1-1/2 cups cold water and an ice sphere. Garnish with a slice of lemon and enjoy!
If you prefer, you can mix a batch of lemonade and store it in a glass bottle. See below for more information.
TIP: A 1-ounce shot glass works very well for measuring your lemonade concentrate.
Additional Tips:
- Store Lemonade Concentrate – You can store your mason jar of unused lemonade concentrate in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. But trust me, it won’t last that long!
TIP: Make sure the mason jar is tightly sealed for best freshness. - Make a Bottle of Ready-to-Drink Lemonade – To make serving your lemonade even easier, make a batch and store it in a glass bottle with a flip-top seal. For example, the bottles I have hold 3-1/2 cups of liquid. I add 3/4-cup of lemonade concentrate to the bottle using a funnel, and then add 3-cups of cold water and seal the bottle. Whenever anyone wants a glass of lemonade, they can just pour a serving directly from the bottle – no mixing required.
- Additional Mixing Ratios – When mixing your lemonade concentrate with water, here are several ratios that might help you:
– Single Serving: 3-ounces lemonade concentrate + 1-1/2 cups cold water; or
– Two Servings: 3/4 cup lemonade concentrate + 3 cups cold water; or
– Six Servings: 1-1/2 cups lemonade concentrate + 6 cups cold water; or
– Full Batch: 3-cups lemonade concentrate + 12 cups cold water
- Make It An Adult Beverage – If you’d like, mix in a shot (or two) of Vodka, Bourbon, Tequila, or Gin. Yum!
