January 12th is National Hot Tea Day.
I figured it was a great excuse to try a hot tea cocktail.
This one is pretty darn tasty – give it a try!
Makes 2 cocktails.

Long Island Hot Tea Cocktail
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 oz. Vodka
- 1/2 oz. Gin
- 1/2 oz. Cointreau (or other orange flavored liqueur)
- 1/2 oz. Tequila
- 1/2 oz. Light Rum
- 2 Cups Hot Tea (strong brewed, English Breakfast works well)
- Honey (to taste)
- Lemon Juice (to taste)
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks (to garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Boil water and prepare tea.
- While tea is steeping, mix liquors together in a large mixing glass or cocktail shaker – without ice.
- Pour hot tea into two cups.
- Pour mixed liquor into two cups of hot tea, equally divided among both cups.
- Taste your drink, then add honey and lemon as desired.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick, if you’d like.
HOT TEA DAY FUN FACTS:
- Tea is the second more consumed beverage in the USA, right behind coffee (I figure alcohol must be a close third. 🤪 ).
- Tea has been used medicinally for thousands of years. It settles the nervous system and helps you relax. (Add a bit of alcohol and you’ll REALLY relax – LOL).
