Syngonium podophyllum ‘Neon Robusta’
I just recently purchased my first Syngonium plants – five different varieties. I love them for the shape of their leaves, but also for their colors. This ‘Neon Robusta’ has the softest pink and light green leaves – it really is a beautiful mixture.
About the Plant
The Syngonium podophyllum ‘Neon Robusta’ is also known as the ‘Pink Arrowhead Vine’.
This plant has arrow-shaped leaves with a beautiful iridescent pink color on the top of the leaves and green on the bottom side of the leaves. While the plant is a subtropical vine, it also makes a nice bushy houseplant. The stems of this plant have aerial roots for climbing.
Depending on where you grow this plant, it can reach heights of 20-inches or more. This plant thrives in large terrariums, but can also be grown in a standard pot. Over time, the leaves form a multi-lobed appearance.
This plant is easy to grow and care for. It likes bright, indirect light and it’s best to keep this plant out of direct sunlight. It likes regular, even moisture. The plant has slow growth in the Winter months, so water only when the soil is completely dry. In the warmer growing months, watering the plant twice a week is best. Since it is a subtropical plant, it does prefer high humidity. This can be accomplished by keeping the plant in a humid room, such as a kitchen or bathroom, or by placing the plant in a tray of rocks and water. You can also lightly mist the plants occasionally.
The Synognium is an easy plant to propagate, so you can make more plants.
The Syngonium is native to the tropical rainforests in Africa and Latin America.
This plant is highly toxic to humans and pets when ingested.
Why I Love It
I love the pink leaves of this plant. I think it brings interest and a subtle pop of color nestled among my other plants.
I also love the shape of the leaves, and how they change over time.
