We’ve been friends for so long, I can’t remember which one of us is the bad influence.
Well. Okay. I admit. I do remember.
I’m pretty sure I was the one who convinced friends “trust me – it’ll be fun!”
Like the time I thought it would be a good idea to give rides on the handlebars of my old Stingray bike. That didn’t end so well.
Or the time we built hay tunnels and hay forts in the old hay maw at Grandma’s and I thought candles would be the way to light up the inside of our old dried out hay forts. Knock on wood, we never started a fire up there.
And then there was that time I thought it would be fun for my cousin and I to cram ourselves inside the pontoon cone of an old boat and roll down a very long and steep hill. Who knew cones wouldn’t roll so well, or that we might bounce. Thank goodness for the barn we ran into, or who knows where we would’ve ended up.
As a new driver, I thought it would be fun to load up my car with a bunch of friends and “let’s drive until we get lost“. And then we did. No cell phones or GPS then. Took us over five hours to find our way back home. And boy did we have fun! Not sure our parents were too happy though.
And then there was the time I got my husband to jump out of an airplane with me on our anniversary. I couldn’t get him to do this more than once, but I’m happy he did this with me. I’m still working on bungee jumping with him. Wish me luck.
These things are a very very very small fraction of all the fun memories and crazy antics I’ve had with friends and family. You only live once, right?! Might as well make it FUN!
And…. it’s a good thing we never got into any serious trouble.
We DID always have fun.
Are you the “bad” influence among your friends?
